ATLANTA RUSSIAN COURSES - *10 weeks of Russian classes

Russian is an exciting language. It has a Cyrillic alphabet instead of a Latin based alphabet. When students first see and hear the alphabet, they often ask if the entire course can just be spent on learning it. However, we teach the alphabet in less than 4 hours. People will learn how to write and pronounce each letter and begin writing sentences with efficiency and ease. Russian grammar is intricate and complex, but no more difficult than learning to dance. Once you learn the “steps” or rules, it is all about attempting to execute them with fluidity. Our native speakers have over 10 years' teaching experience, and backgrounds teaching English as a Second Language and their native language of Russian.

While there is no word for “fun” in Russian, they do say “free time.” Part of the cultural training of our classes is learning words that have no meaning in the language you are learning. You can communicate the concept by using context and other vocabulary.

Our instructors have a fun and energetic style that keeps you on your toes! Whether you are learning for business or travel, we will teach you the language and cultural aspects you need to know to be successful in navigating the Russian world.

*Courses include 10 consecutive weekly classes (barring major holidays). Classes meet once a week for 2 hours at our location, or online. The curriculum of our language program is built for groups of three to nine students who complete the material in ten weeks. We also offer more immersive classes that are seven weeks for two students, and five weeks for private lessons.

Please note that all classes are subject to a minimum enrollment.

Russian 101

In this level, students become familiar with Russian basics: the syllable and pronunciation system, the alphabet, numbers, and greetings.
Grammar basics that are covered include nouns and pronouns (gender and numbers), an introduction of verb conjugation, and an introduction to present tense.
Students will learn adjectives, including their definition and types. Conjugation of verbs into present tense and past tense.
Focus is on building basic sentences; and included in all of this, is speaking/reading/writing of the Russian Language.

Russian 102

Grammar basics are continued... including nouns and pronouns (gender and numbers), an introduction of verb conjugation, and continuation of present tense.
Students will learn to describe their background, character traits and family.
Cultural aspects include discussing Russian history and holidays.
Students will have daily conversations in Russian as a part of each class.

Russian 103

Adjectives are covered, including their definition and types. Conjugating verbs in the present tense are reviewed, and the past tense is continued.
Imperatives are covered, including verbs of motion with reflexes, short adjectives, and the case systems.
Students will practice speaking about everyday life, express different emotion and understand how to discuss appointments by utilizing date, and time.
Students will have daily conversations in Russian as a part of each class.

Russian 201

In Russian 201, focus is given on the continue of fundamental Russian grammar, vocabulary, expansions, and introduction to the case system
Focus is given on negative sentences, reported speech, and describing architectural monuments. Long and short form of participles are also explored.
Students will have daily conversations in Russian as a part of each class.

Russian 202

Russian 202 focuses on improving listening, speaking, reading and writing skills.
We continue discussing Russian culture and learning specific phrases associated with it.
New vocabulary involving health and food are introduced, as well as, sporting activity and art.
Verb aspects and subjunctive mood are explored. Superlative and comparative degree are also introduced.
Students will have daily conversations in Russian as apart of each class.

Russian 203

Students will learn more adverbs and focus on using future tense. Students will continue studying cases. They will begin to read parallel books with English and Russian texts.
At this level, we continue to expand vocabulary, develop all skills and discuss current events and policies affecting Russia today.
Student will learn to listen to and summarize Russian radio and television.
Students will have daily conversations in Russian as apart of each class.

Russian 301

Conversation will be made using all 3 tenses.
Students will learn to watch Russian television and practice making sentences using conjunctions. We continue to discuss the diversity of Russian culture.
Students will practice using the past, present and future; using the correct tenses with the correct gender and cases.
Students will have daily conversations in Russian as a part of each class.

Russian 302

Russian 303

Students will have daily conversations in Russian as a part of each class.
Student will begin to read Russian classics, from writers such as Chekhov and Tolstoy.
The goal is to create an environment similar to real life. Students will develop and participate in, and show an ability to understand and produce complex comprehensive communication.
Participants will have an opportunity to practice Russian conversation, and speak more about Russian culture and society, describe direction, respond to instruction and express likes or dislikes.

Group classes cannot be rescheduled or canceled.
Classes are NON-REFUNDABLE after the registration deadline.
Only classes canceled or rescheduled by the Atlanta International Language Institute will allow for a refund in full.
